Jim -- Lovely to see a post here again!

I did MG's Coffeeneuring Challenge this past fall and was glad for an excuse to get out and ride and find new coffee shops in my neighborhood.

I, too, have felt some bicycling malaise. My body is taking winter weather more personally this year; my knees ache in the cold and I am tired from the tumult of my career-change (and the resulting change in the social and psychic landscape). But there are small victories. Last night I rode most of the way home (I go multi-modal a lot) and while I felt dreadfully slow, my legs felt smooth and fluid and I enjoyed the ride.

I look forward to warmer days and a corresponding increase in the inspration to ride longer and farther on the weekends. Happy riding --BH

This sounds so much like my year. I don't see a change in 2013, though. It isn't due to a lack of optimism either.

I am more under-miled than you are. Just riding to and from work and half the time I'm going multi-modal. Still, I'd welcome the opportunity to knock myself out on a populaire if one were scheduled, artwork or no. Did you go?

Congratulations! It’s been a cold spring here and a challenge for many to get in the distance. I’m guessing you braved some April showers …. Still, I always say any day on the bike is a good day.

Hey man,

Way to go! I read your blog regularly, thanks for taking the time and posting your rides and all our bike pics and stories. I'm planning on doing just this come Summer, an entire month of riding to work, one way for me is 22 miles, Santa Cruz near UCSC to Pajaro. Anyways, good on ya! Way to inspire me.

Reminds me of the 35-mile group ride that accidentally became 10 miles longer -- and I STILL had to be home by 3 pm. I made it. Barely.
Sometimes, though, those lost afternoons on the bike are positively golden.
